Meet the Writer

Jocelyn Anne

The winter of 1992 welcomed me from a local hospital in New Jersey. I was born to a father from Brooklyn and a mother from Jamaica. Both of my parents were career military and devout Christians and that experience would strongly shape who I would become.

I grew up loving music and dance. When I was 13, I joined the Civil Air Patrol and was happily a member for 6 years. I loved the structure and order of the experience with well-defined rules and clear expectations of what was expected of me.

For someone who has a rule-following personality, it suited me well, and for a long time, I thought I would serve in the military like my parents, but God had other plans for me.

Throughout middle and high school I developed a strong love for sports, specifically Track & Field. I loved it so much that I decided to walk on to my college track team and finished my 5 year career as an All-American in the Hammer Throw. I would spend the next 6 years working and training to qualify for the Olympics. I didn’t get the ending to that dream that I wanted but I did get a better one.

In the latter end of my Olympic-Dream-Chasing, I met and married my husband Kyle.

We met in 2019 right before the pandemic, which was a blessing in disguise. We had a lot of time to spend getting to know each other and a fast 10 months later we were engaged and 6 months after that we were married! We have been married for 2 years and every day that I’ve known him has been better than any day without.

A couple of months before our 2nd anniversary we were blessed with 2 little miracles, Kaiya and Anthony. They were delivered 10 weeks early with heads full of hair due to some pregnancy complications I was having at a little over 3 lbs each! After a total of 2 months in the NICU we were finally able to settle down at home as a family.

These days I am learning how to be the best wife and mom I can be, while also pursuing things that bring me joy, which leads us to this blog. I hope that it is a wealth of knowledge and encouragement to you in your own journey.
